About Us

The face behind the
Maker
Boyle Bladeworks was founded in 2019, by propmaker John Boyle (me). My aim is to create lasting quality knives that are inspired by my passion for Celtic history, and the rugged wilderness of Scotland. Our knives are designed to incorporate both aesthetics and function.

The history behind the
Blades
My passion for knives has always been a part of my life. It started when I was gifted a bowie knife that my grandfather forged himself. From this point I set out to discover how these tools were made, and became fascinated with their creation.
My company was created to design tools that would be at home during the formal setting of a wedding, but would also serve you well whilst hunting or fishing in the outdoors.

The lore behind the
Craft
I specialise in Sgian dubhs (skeen doo) which is a small utility blade favoured by the Scottish Highlanders, translated to Black knife named for the darkened colour of the handle normally made from Bog Oak.
